Independence Day BBQ

Yes, children and students it's that time again. Post racing festivities we'll be returning to the mansion for our traditional Fourth BBQ. Jamie 'the Grillmaster' Madrox will be on burning things over coals duty. Make sure he knows what you're planning on eating whether it be steak, veggie or what have you.

I've got the rest of it. If you touch the stuff that's in the fridge right now marked with little flags, you're forfeiting food tomorrow. I will know. My spies are everywhere.

Pies will be available. I know you're shocked.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
I only burn if that's what the customer orders, you hoity-toity indoor-cooking elitist. ;) But we will indeed have an assortment for all tastes, and if it's not tooting my own horn too much to make a recommendation, I've always been grateful for all the kind words I've received regarding my ribs.

And Lorna's spies are everywhere; trust me, I know. ;)

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
What's in the "what have you"? I mean, because Lorna already said "steak" so, I'm wondering, what options do I get here in my choice of tasty dead animals to chew on?

[identity profile] x-rahne.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Beef, pork, mutton, lamb, chicken, turkey, the venison is thawing, and I may have missed a few things on the list.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
What, no goat or duck?

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll put those on the list for next year, how about. I don't think I've ever actually eaten goat, huh.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It was meant to be a joke, not a suggestion. Rahne listed a number of types of meat from different animals but did not mention goat or duck.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well, okay.

I still might put goat on the shopping list one of these days. Because now I'm all curious.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Duck's pretty good though. My dad used to get a couple when he went hunting.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Duck is excellent. It's just hard to make in quantity for something like this.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Steak without the messy sauce, please.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Done. But I tell you, the sauce makes it taste so much better.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I will try other types of sauces if you have them. If you really want to be the one responsible for causing a student to end up in Medlab, you go right ahead and smother my steak in BBQ sauce.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, allergies? Didn't know, sorry about that. Allergies suck.

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I do not have any allergies.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
So why would you end up in the medlab from eating barbecue sauce?

[identity profile] x-aerial.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That would be because the sauce in mention is barbecue sauce and the sight of it disgusts me. In all honesty, the mere thought of it turns my stomach. I can only imagine what actually consuming it would do to me.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, okay then, if you're that set against it I won't push. You ever decide you wanna give it a try, though, smothering's not the only way to use it.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
You being one of them.

[identity profile] x-forge.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh. Requests for those big shrimp wrapped in bacon with the bits of pineapple and green peppers.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I can do those. Mmm, shrimp

[identity profile] x-mirage.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
is anyone making frybread?

or chili? (preferably with meat)

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
No and yes but I'll love you forever if you take the latter over from me.

[identity profile] x-mirage.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'll do both then.

proper indian chili. which is only appropriate for july 4.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You're a marvel, Dani.

[identity profile] x-prism.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Totally need to make some grilled veggie-kabobs. They're not just for vegans, I swear! And grilled pineapple.

But, uh...is it gonna be a problem to get them cooked on a part of the grill that hasn't had greasy cow pieces dripping all over it? Because ew.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
They already have to do some of the stuff seperate, cause last year when Haroun was here, he was all No Pork Man. Also I think no some other stuff man, but I forget what besides Pork is Bad. And Kitty's Jewish, but I dunno if she keeps kosher, and hey, allergies, so I bet they could get you your own grill space.

And ... grilled pineapple? You can grill PINEAPPLE? Holy CRAP. I need that. I mean, like, five minutes ago.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Duuuude.

Seriously like, yum. There is nothing about grilled pineapple that isn't totally sounding awesome to me right now.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Now I'm hungry. Damnit, why isn't it tomorrow?

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Kitchen raid and we'll just avoid the ones with flags? There has to be non-flagged food down there SOMEWHERE.

[identity profile] x-roulette.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
I am so there, it's not even funny.

We might even get lucky.

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
I make a mean BLT. Also a mean BLaT, but that's because I dig avacado. BlacT too, but that starts sounding like BlacK and I don't think a Bacon, Lettuce, Avacado, Cheese and Kosher Pickle sandwich is a good idea.

[identity profile] x-prism.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good point. Cool!

And oh man, you haven't ever had grilled pineapple? Omigod. The sugar goes all, like, carmelized, so it's like charcoaly pineapple with caramel flavor!

[identity profile] x-wildchild.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I've never had grilled FRUIT. Just about everything else but never fruit.

... Kitchen raid with Jennie and me? I mean a mean .. Uh, I guess for you it'd be a ... Lat? Lettuce and avacado and tomato sandwich?

[identity profile] x-prism.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh...sounds yummy! Be right there!

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You can grill damn near as many things as you can deep-fry, not that I'll ever get the chance to prove that.

And yeah, no problem separating the grillspace, already had one set up for veggies-only.

[identity profile] x-traction.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Pie? Did someone say pie? I claim a whole one to myself. No, I am not a pig...it's Lorna pie and totally worth it!

[identity profile] x-wither.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
If they're apple pie, I'm sorry, but I will be claiming all of them.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I think there are some who will disagree with that.

[identity profile] x-sanfuaiyaa.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
My heart bleeds for them.

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You're aware that Scott's favorite is strawberry?

I think you're going to be doing some literal bleeding.

[identity profile] x-wither.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
What kind of pie?

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
*takes a deep breath*

Peach, apple, cherry, strawberry, chocolate, lemon meringue, berry, pecan, apple-cranberry and boston cream

Jamie, did I miss anything?

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't think so. But there's a lot of pies, I might not have noticed one.

[identity profile] x-foliate.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear Lorna,

You are crazy in the head.

All my love,
Paige

[identity profile] x-polarisstar.livejournal.com 2006-07-04 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear Paige,

Crazy would have been making an equal amount of cheesecakes.

Mmm, cheesecake.

Love and kisses,
Lorna
