always decorate with pink and lace. Why is that? Is there something about turning 60 that makes you into a 13 year old girl and what's with the cabbage roses? I'm all for flowers but a vase of overblown roses on every table perfectly centered on a doily just seems like perhaps you might want to embrace the joy of minimalism.

Nevertheless, I have found a house I adore. It's down in Twin Lakes Village. The kitchen is the least dismal of all the homes I've looked at. The range is actually new which is the most astonishing thing ever, let me tell you.

There's just an eensy little problem but I'm sure that it'll work itself out.

In other news, the realtor asked me to dinner. Um, yeah. See David, when you're not there to protect me, I make bad decisions.

I haven't actually noticed a sense of humor. Unless he was joking about liking Kelly Clarkson. Which, now that I think about it, he may have been. So, call it a really deadpan sense of humor.

Deadpan can be good - generally indicates they've got enough sense to not take everything as a joke, and can be serious but don't have to.

Most likely, yes. But, trust me, you don't want me going out and buying you cookware. A gift certificate to a reputable shop I can just about manage, if you tell me what shop you prefer. Couches, carpets, desks, bedding, bathroom sets; those I can manage. Me and any kitchen that's supposed to meet your standards is a bad combination.

You're doing what every other young American of your general age bracket does as soon as they are anywhere remotely near fiscally capable - exercising your independence. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal, you'll be fine.

Lists are good. Once you've got them we can also head up to the attic and see if any of the stuff that I bought during my own brief stints as an independent woman would be of any use.
