We're having pancakes today for breakfast and lunch because it is Mardi Gras, not because I'm lazy. This is an important distinction.
The pancakes for dinner are because I'm lazy.

God has very little to do with Mardi Gras. He's big on tomorrow though.
Mardi Gras is about indulging in all the things that you're going to be giving up for the next 40 days. It's a celebration, the feast before the famine.
Pancakes are traditional.
