I just got a phone call from my mother. Apparently this girl at my old school manifested today and for some reason the principal called my mom to come talk to the girl and her mom.

Now I'm supposed to call this girl and reassure her that this isn't the end of the world.

Anyone have any idea about what I should tell her?

Being well-adjusted is its own cross to bear, alas. ;)

Nah, I just saw some parallels, is all. Supportive parents, harmless-but-potentially-stigmatizing mutation . . . even with the embarrassment of manifesting in public, though, at least she's "out" right away and doesn't have to deal with worrying about the lies falling apart. I still wonder if it might've been easier if I'd duped in the middle of a dodge-ball game.

'Course, the millenial Kansas sticks were, um, let's just say they were a lot less cosmopolitan than California in 2006, so maybe it's more of a six-of-one deal. Ironically.

I can imagine. Considering that I manifested semi-publically in the mid/early 90's, I got off pretty light. I can't imagine how stressful it must be to try and keep your genetic status private. There are definitely draw-backs, but in the long run it's one less thing you have to worry about.
